Work in Canada

The Canadian Economy is thriving and it requires thousands of workers every year. Many employers can't find enough employees in Canada to fill certain jobs. We help both employers and employees with the complicated immigration process and requirements.

Different types of work permits:

Canada offers various types of work permits to individuals seeking employment in the country. Here are some of the main types of Canadian work permits:

  1. Open Work Permit:

    • Allows you to work for any employer in Canada, excluding certain occupations or employers who failed to comply with the conditions. Spouses or common-law partners of certain work or study permit holders may be eligible for an open work permit. An open work permit is also granted to International Students after graduation from a Canadian College or university. This student work permit is also known as a post-graduation work permit.

  2. Employer-Specific Work Permit:

    • Tied to a specific employer and location. To obtain this permit, the employer must often get a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) to demonstrate that there is a need for a foreign worker.

  3. International Mobility Program (IMP) Work Permit:

    • Exempt from the LMIA requirement under specific situations, such as reciprocal employment agreements, intra-company transfers, or workers covered by international agreements.

  4. Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP):

    • Allows international students who have graduated from eligible Canadian institutions to work in Canada for up to three years after completing their studies.

  5. NAFTA Work Permit (now known as CUSMA):

    • For citizens of Mexico and the United States who qualify under the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA), covering professions listed in the agreement.

  6. Global Talent Stream Work Permit:

    • A fast-track option for certain skilled workers with job offers in occupations listed under the Global Talent Occupations List.

  7. Spousal Open Work Permit:

    • Allows the spouses or common-law partners of certain work or study permit holders in Canada to work while they are in the country.

  8. Intra-Company Transfer Work Permit:

    • Allows multinational companies to temporarily transfer qualified employees to Canada for the purpose of improving management effectiveness, expanding Canadian exports, and enhancing competitiveness.

  9. Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program (SAWP):

    • Allows agricultural employers to hire temporary foreign workers for seasonal agricultural work when Canadian workers are not available.

  10. Caregiver Program Work Permit:

    • Allows individuals to work in Canada as caregivers, either for children, elderly individuals, or people with high medical needs.
